Policing Pledge HMIC Inspection Results

In July 2008 the Home Secretary published the Green Paper “From the neighbourhood to the national: policing our communities together. This paper introduced the Policing Pledge. The Pledge lists 10 basic standards which the police promise to deliver to the public in England and Wales, and reflects the desire of police forces to connect more successfully with the needs of their communities.

HMIC (external website) was asked to observe and report on Policing Pledge delivery throughout the country.

Policing Pledge Inspection Results

Lincolnshire Police received the following grades:

  • Overall Grade – FAIR
  • Pledge Points 1 to 10 – All graded as FAIR
  • Performance Improvement Grades – All graded as FAIR

Grading Criteria

The HMIC grading is a categorised as follows:

  • Poor – is used when performance fails to meet an acceptable level.  Immediate remedial action is needed.
  • Fair – is awarded where performance is variable and falls short of the required standard.  Remedial action is needed.
  • Good – is defined as meeting the standard, although there may be minor dips in performance.
  • Excellent – is awarded for exceptional performance that is consistently above and beyond the required standard.
