#LincsTweetBeat

7th June 2011

A member of Lincolnshire Police Authority will spend the day out on patrol with police officers on the 14th June – and he’ll be Tweeting the day’s events.

John Atter, an independent member of the Authority will leave the board room and meeting papers behind, and join an officer based in Lincoln for their entire shift.

He said:  ‘This is a tremendous opportunity for Twitter followers to find out exactly what the workload of our officers is like. There’s no such thing as a typical day for the Force, so obviously I have no idea what’s likely to happen. I do know it won’t be uneventful and I will ‘Tweet’ as often as possible with details of what is happening and what my thoughts are’.

The Authority’s Engagement and Communications Officer, John Horton, alerted Twitter users to the event a week ago. ‘We’ve had a good response’, he said. ‘This will be a first for the Authority. Members go out and meet officers on a regular basis and we have been using Twitter for a while as a general communication tool, but this is the first time we’ve combined the two. It will be a new experience for everyone concerned – including the Tweeters’.

To follow the events of the day and to Tweet contributions to the dialogue, Twitterers should follow LincsPA and use the hashtag (#) #LincsTweetBeat

For those people who don’t use Twitter, we will publish all the messages from the event on our website www.lincolnshire.gov.uk the following day.
