What We Do
Our role
The Authority’s main role is to make sure Lincolnshire Police provide an efficient and effective service to the people of Lincolnshire. We have a number of legal duties that we have to carry out. This section provides an overview of our responsibilities.
Community Engagement and Consultation
We are committed to establishing trust and confidence with the public and achieve this through engaging and consulting with the community.
Policing Plan
The Policing Plan sets out our priorities for the next three years. The current plan details how the Authority and the Force intend to increase the trust and confidence that the people of Lincolnshire have in their police service. This is a three year plan from 2010 to 2013.
Finances
This section explains how we manage our financial obligations. The Statement of Accounts and other related documents are available to view in this section.
We also set and manage the Budget for Lincolnshire Police. This includes deciding how much council tax people in Lincolnshire should pay towards their police force.
Performance
The Authority monitors and reviews the performance of Lincolnshire Police in all of its priority areas throughout the year, holding the Chief Constable to account accordingly.
Annual Report
This is a report that is produced yearly highlighting the Force and Authority's performance against targets set.
The Policing Pledge
Lincolnshire Police Authority fully supports Lincolnshire Police in its delivery of the Policing Pledge. Through its scrutiny role, the Authority monitors the performance of the Force in implementing and delivering these service standards.
Appointments/Dismissal of Senior Police Officers
We also appoint and dismiss the Chief Constable and senior officers. Go to the Force website to find out more about the Force’s Chief Officers.
Complaints and Standards
We make sure Lincolnshire Police observe high standards of conduct and respond properly to complaints.
Equalities and Diversity
We will promote fairness and equality and ensure that people are treated with respect and dignity at all times. We have published a Combined Equalities Scheme and Action Plan that helps us to achieve this aim.
Stop and Search
If you are stopped and search, you have rights. This section provides more information about your rights. It also details how we monitor and scrutinise the Force’s use of stop and search powers.
Every Child Matters
We are committed to safeguarding and improving the well being of children and young people. We fully support this through the national ‘Every Child Matters’ initiative.
Risk Management
To help us carry out our role effectively, we have processes in place to help us manage risks.
