Independent Lay Members of Ethical Standards Committee

Introduction

Lincolnshire Police Authority is committed to ensuring that all its members adhere to the highest standards of conduct in public office and in compliance with the Authority’s own Code of Conduct.  To help it achieve these high standards of conduct the Police Authority is advised by an Ethical Standards committee, which consists of nine members. Six are members of the Lincolnshire Police Authority and three are members of the public called Independent Lay members.

Role of Independent Lay Members

Independent Lay members are important in helping increase public confidence in the Police Authority. They provide a clear signal that the Ethical Standards committee acts fairly and impartially and also bring a wider perspective from their outside experiences. Independent Lay members are appointed for a four year term of office, although they can serve for up to two terms.

The three Independent Lay members currently appointed to the Ethical Standards Committee are:

Dennis Bambridge (Chairman)

Sarah Skelton (Vice Chairman)

David Lomas
